Farmers' Markets

WHAT IS A FARMERS' MARKET?Although the term "Farmers' Market" implies that farmers sell their own produce at the market, it often gets used by markets that resell produce.
How can "real" Farmers' Markets distinguish themselves from other markets? FMNZ offers optional authenticity guidelines to member markets where vendors sell their own locally produced food. 3 GOLDEN RULES:1. Primarily food is sold (no arts, craft, bric-a-brac) with exceptions for plants and flowers
2. Food is produced within a defined local area (e.g. 2hr drive or 100km radius from the market) 3. Vendors must be directly involved in the growing or production process of the food (no on-selling) Mar 2024
